Sugar

Definition: A grainy, wet, crystalline concentrate.

Sugar is a concentrate with a grainy, crystalline texture that looks a bit like wet raw sugar or applesauce with crystals in it. It is usually golden to amber. Sugar is typically made with hydrocarbon extraction, and its texture forms as THCA slowly crystallizes out of the extract, leaving small crystals coated in a terpene-rich liquid.

Sugar sits somewhere between badder and diamonds-and-sauce. It is wetter and more textured than badder but has smaller crystals than diamonds. Many people like it for strong flavor, especially when it is made from fresh-frozen plants and labeled as live sugar.

You can dab sugar or use it in a concentrate vaporizer. Because it is sticky, a dab tool with a scoop end works best. Start small; a grain-of-rice amount is plenty to begin with.

Sugar can change texture over time. Shatter and badder can "sugar up" if they get warm or are stored a long time, which is a natural process called nucleation. It does not necessarily mean the product is bad, but it can change the flavor and consistency.

Keep sugar cool, dark and sealed, and check its COA for potency and residual solvents.
